The MemoryMiner Virtual Library and Network
The MemoryMiner team are continuing to develop the technology for a MemoryMiner network of digital stories and story elements.
The first step in this process, now complete as of version 1.04, is the creation and refinement of a Flash application (also known as a "skin") so that when you export an XML data package of your media from MemoryMiner you can show it to the world in both movie format and an interactive presentation. The end result is a compact version of whatever MemoryMiner story you're developing which you can upload to a server of your choice (including MemoryMiner.com), which will be searchable by elements of time, place and people. It will also be possible to make stories available only to specific groups if privacy is of concern.
From there, the next step is to make queries possible through the MemoryMiner application, not only to all exported media online but also to any other MemoryMiner user who wants to make their data and media available. So let's say you want to find out whether anyone has pics from Small Town, Massachussetts between 1950 and 1955, you can ask the MemoryMiner community by sending out a query to the MemoryMiner web service database. A network "console" will be available within the application to keep you up-to-date with developments and additions in the MemoryMiner community of topics you're specifically interested in.
